On Wednesday 27th November, all Year 9 students were taken off timetable to participate in a problem solving workshop, which tasked them with trying to solve a real workplace challenge, delivered by ‘MyKindFuture’ and employers from Johnson & Johnson. The task was to produce a drug for an incurable disease, work out the costing of producing the drug, give the drug a name, and design a logo and tagline for their product.
Throughout the two-hour action packed workshop students also had an insight into the endless possibilities in subjects such as Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths (STEM). They were educated on importance of STEM subjects within the world of work, and how studying these subjects will also give them lots of transferable skills, which they can apply in any career.
We look forward to welcoming the team back later on in the academic year, for another day of workshops with a different year group.
